Announcements

November 10, 2009

MANY, MANY THANKS to all parents who participated in our Fall Festival and
met
with me on Friday for parent-teacher conferences. It's always good to see you
and talk about fourth grade! If you missed your appointment, please contact
me and let me know when you can stop by.

November 19 - 4-H meeting for November
Your child may prepare and present a speech at this meeting. The classroom
winners are eligible to participate in the county-wide speech contest. This
is a WONDERFUL opportunity for the children. They may pick a topic of their
choice and use note cards when presenting their speech.
4-H workbook pages 4-9 are expected to be completed for the 11/19 meeting.

Should you wish to have your child seen by the nurse practitioner during
school hours, I would ask that you call the clinic directly and discuss your
child's condition/needs with the clinic staff. Call 272-7651, ask for
extension 1114. This gives you a direct line to the medical personnel and you
can directly answer any questions they may have.
I will continue to send children to the clinic if they become ill during the
school day.

Keep practicing those multiplication facts! We are now working on fraction
concepts including equivalent fractions, simplest form, comparing and
ordering fractions, and adding and subtracting fractions with like and unlike
denominators. It's so much easier when you know your facts!

We will attend a Veteran's Day program here at school tomorrow. I am SO PROUD
of all my students who participate in RCS Singers (they will perform
tomorrow).

Yearbook deposits are due by November 24, 2009.

Extra credit opportunities will be posted over the next few days.

Our class has won the award for the largest number of parents and relatives
joining our ABC organization. We will be having a pizza lunch in the
classroom to celebrate our accomplishment! The date will be announced shortly.

I am pleased to announce that I will be receiving a grant from Eastman
Chemical Corporation in early December. The grant money will be used to
purchase Vernier probes to be used for math and science instruction. The
probes attach to our laptop computers and will graph data points gathered in
science experiments and measurement activities.

Thanks for all you do - working together is the key to success for your child!
