All extra credit opportunities listed below are due no later than Friday,
October 2, 2009.
READING:
1. Prepare a report about Dr. Robert Ballard, Ruth Becker, or any other
Titanic survivor. Be prepared to share your report from the class. You must
be able to read your report independently.
2. Choose a character from any story we have read. Create a postcard the
character might send to a friend. On the front make a drawing of someplace
the character has been. On the back, write a message using complete sentences.
3. Choose two characters from any story we have read to interview each other.
Make up a few questions that a character may ask the other. Record your
questions and responses. Your interview must include at least 5 good
questions and responses written in good sentence form.
ENGLISH:
1. Prepare a noun collage of modern travel. Cut out magazine photos that show
places, people, and things you might see if you were to go on a trip by
train, bus, car, or plane.
MATH:
1. Interview 5 people to find out how they use math at their jobs. Be
prepared to share your findings with the class.
2. See Mrs. Hubley for 5 logical reasoning problems you may complete. You
will need to draw and complete a chart for each problem.
SCIENCE:
1. Prepare a poster report about a lunar eclipse or solar eclipse. Be sure to
include a drawing that shows the positions of earth, moon, and sun during the
eclipse. Be prepared to share your poster with the class.
Other extra credit opportunities may be offered during class. It is up to you
to write these down and complete them.
