When a child does something well, the child is rewarded with a DOLLAR. Students need to be praised for being responsible, showing good citizenship, good thinking, and great efforts, among a myriad of other things. These dollars are saved for AUCTION DAYS! PARENTS - here's where I need your help! I ask the children to bring toys and trinkets that they can carry for auction days. These items should be those you are ready to discard. These items are auctioned off by the auctioneer, me, and students pay for these items with their dollars. I have found this to be a wonderful motivator, as well as a real-life experience in handling money and decision-making. Start collecting those items that your children don't play with anymore - save them for classroom auction days!
