Can parents participate in classroom activities?
ABSOLUTELY!! I encourage parents to take an active role in their child's education. You may do so by volunteering in many ways. Please see the areas where you may be of assistance in the packet sent home at our parent meeting. I will schedule a time for you to come. Also, if you have an activity that you'd like to do with the class, just let me know. A time will be scheduled for you to come in and do it. I'll be your assistant in those cases.Back to Top

Because I use field trips as an extended classroom, parents will be asked to go along on field trips on an "As Needed" basis. When your child enters school, it is a good time for him/her to begin independently going places. Please allow them to do so.Back to Top

What field trips are taken in second grade?
We take a trip to Rocky Mount in the fall and go to eat Japanese food in the spring. We also travel to Pigeon Forge to explore the rainforest at Rainforest Adventures and then eat at Gatti's Pizza. All of these trips coincide with our curriculum.Back to Top

How long should homework take?
As a general rule, homework should take no longer than 20-30 minutes. Remember that reading to/with your child is not considered homework, it's an expectation of you as a parent as we are in this together.Back to Top
