Students should be ready to take a test every day.
If students do not pass their test on the first try, they may read the book
again and take the test up to 2 more times.
Students may take only one test per day. If a child is absent, he/she may
take make up tests upon returning to school. This is the only time students
are allowed to take more than one test and have up to 5 days from their
return to school to do so.
Students in grades 1-4 will received a ribbon after passing their first 5
quizzes, ten quizzes, and after each ten quizzes thereafter. Small items
will also be rewarded for different points achieved: 25, 50, 100, 150, etc.
Students who reach a minimum of 75 points by the cut off date will have the
opportunity to participate in a Reading Field Trip such as a movie or
similar activity with their class.
Students passing 100 books by that same cut off date will be rewarded with a
trip to Dollywood. This will be a family/school trip. Reading Counts will
end at the first of May, so students must work all year to achieve this goal.
Parents are encouraged to listen to their child read their books and
encourage students to become independent readers!
Students will not receive help with their tests on the computer after they
have received 10 points on Reading Counts.
