I am married to David Weaver, a city mail carrier here in Rogersville. We
have one daughter, Amanda, who graduated from ETSU and Tusculum. She is
teaching 4th grade at Surgoinsville Elementary. Amanda is married to Shayne
Spears. They had Austin Chase September 2004 and Ashleigh Nicole on September
2006. (David and I both love being grandparents.)
David and I have one son, Cody Tyrel, who graduated from Cherokee High School
in 2005. Cody is employed by the U. S. Postal system in Elizabethton, TN. He
is engaged to Ashley Pullon and they plan to marry in May 2010. We
are so proud of our children and grandchildren.
I graduated from Bulls Gap High school in 1973. I hold an Associates
Degree in Child Care Technology from Walters State Community College.
I worked as a para-professional teacher at Bulls Gap Elementary School
in special education for five years before completing my education
degree. I earned a Bachelors degree in elementary education K-8 from
ETSU in 1982 and have been teaching at Rogersville City School since.
I attended ETSU in the evenings to obtain a Masters degree in
Storytelling/Reading. I hold Career Ladder II status through the TN Dept.
of Ed. and am "highly qualified" to teach reading K-8 and elementary grades
K-6 according to the recent NCLB federal legislation standards and the TN
Housse Matrix. I received the Tennessee Association of Conservation
Districts' 2005 Educator of the Year Award. In 2006-07 I received
Tennessee's Primary Teacher Rookie of the Year Award for Energy Education.
My first grade class of 2006-07 earned the 2006-07 TN Primary Rookie of the
Year award for Rogersville City School for their Energy Education Project.
I enjoy grantwriting to obtain materials needed for creative teaching
and technology in the classroom and in our school. My hobbies are
babysitting my grandchildren, water gardening, gardening, watching my son
play softball, sewing, and personal computing.
My family has pets. At home we have a Persian cat, a dog, and
fish. My husband and son are avid hunters, and we are all involved in the
efforts of the Clinch Mountain Chapter of the National Wild Turkey
Federation.
My family and I attend Persia Baptist Church.
I enjoy teaching. My mission is to make learning fun and enjoyable for all
students. I hope to instill in the love of learning. I use a variety of
hands-on materials in my teaching to engage them and get them excited about
math, reading, writing, science, social studies and technology.
