About The Teacher

Welcome to our classroom website. My name is Lisa Baynes and this is my
thirteenth year as an educator and my fourth year at Shayne Elementary. I
graduated from Southern Illinois University in 1988 with a degree in
elementary education and I received my master's degree in curriculum,
instruction, and assessment from Walden University in 2007. I value
education and believe that in order to teach your child effectively, I must
stay abreast of the trends and best practices that will benefit our
classroom.

On a personal note, I am married with four children. My husband Bill and I
just celebrated our twenty-third wedding anniversary in June. My daughter,
Olivia is a freshman at Belmont University majoring in Biology/Pre-Med. She
is very active in her church youth group and worship team and is one busy
young lady! My sons all play soccer and love video games and movies. Ryan
is a freshman at Overton High School and is in the band. He plays the tenor
saxophone for marching band and the bassoon for concert band. Alec
is in the eighth grade at Oliver Middle School and is in the band as well.
He plays the trombone. My youngest is Julian, and he is a fifth grader this
year at Oliver. He is planning to be in band and hopes to be a drummer! As
you can see, my life at home is never dull. I enjoy reading, when I can
find a quiet moment, movies, television, cooking, watching my son's games
and chaperoning Ryan's band events and football games. I am a Tennessee
Titans fan, a St. Louis Cardinals fan and like watching sports however,
basketball no longer holds my interest since MJ retired. : (

I am honored to be your child's teacher and I am looking forward to a
wonderful school year.

Mission For The Class

My mission is to guide students in developing a love for life-long
learning. I will empower them to believe in themselves and attain all they
are capable of achieving. I will celebrate their successes and help them
with their failures. I will develop a classroom where children feel
comfortable, safe and wanted. I will use every teachable moment in my
classroom to teach moral and ethical behavior. I will do my best to help
all children become productive citizens.
