Parents,
Welcome to 1st grade! I look forward to meeting each of you and getting the
school year started. I wanted you to be aware of my Homework Policy. I
believe that homework is important because it is a valuable aid in helping
students make the most of their experience in school. I give homework
because it is useful in reinforcing what has been learned in class, prepares
students for upcoming lessons, teaches responsibility, and helps students
develop positive study habits.
Homework will be assigned Monday through Thursday nights. The assignments
should not take more than 30 minutes to complete, not including studying for
tests and working on projects. Spelling and reading word tests are given on
Fridays. I expect assignments to be turned in neat and on time.
I will check homework. Because I strongly believe in the value supportive
feedback plays in motivating children to develop good study habits, I will
recognize students when they so their homework and offer incentives.
