Homework

Homework is an excellent link between home and school. It's purpose is to
reinforce skills that are taught at school as well as allow parents to see
where their child may need extra help. In first grade, homework is counted
as an effort grade only. However, it is critical that homework is completed
correctly in order for your child to receive the maximum benefit from the
learning experience.

This year I am attempting to have a specific schedule for
homework assignments each night. At times the schedule may deviate
slightly due to shortened weeks, catching up on lessons, and/or testing
schedules, but for the most part it will be as follows:

Monday - Phonics & Math
Tuesday - Phonics & Math
Wednesday - Phonics & Math
Thursday - Writing Folder
Friday - Study new Reading and/or Spelling Words

BELOW IS THE SPECIFIC HW FOR THE WEEK OF November 9-13

Monday - Phonics p. 34 & Math p. 146
Tuesday - Phonics p. & Math p.
Wednesday -
Thursday -
Friday - Study new Reading & Spelling Words

**Students write their homework in their Agendas each day. Homework is to
be returned to school the next day (unless otherwise specified)**

I will begin a Homework Club for students who turn in all
their homework for the week. They will receive a sticker or some type of
small reward as an effort grade. Although I will remind students to turn in
their homework, it will be their responsibility to place it in the homework
bucket in the classroom (with their name on it) to be checked each week.

**If homework is left at school, students will be required to catch up the
next night by completing the homework for the night missed and the current
night's homework. I will do my part by reminding students to place their
homework in their notebooks at the conclusion of each day, but again, the
ultimate responsibility lies with the child.** (If you haven't started
already, first grade is an excellent time to begin teaching and reinforcing
responsibility with your child.
