About The Teachers

Welcome to Mrs. Bowen’s & Mrs. Roark’s third grade class at Shayne
Elementary. We anticipate an exciting and fun-filled year. We wanted to take
a moment to explain how our classroom will operate with two teachers. During
this first week of school both teachers will be here to get acquainted with
the students and to establish routines and procedures for the school year.
Starting the second week of school Mrs. Bowen will be teaching on Mondays
and Tuesdays and Mrs. Roark will be teaching on Wednesdays and Thursdays. We
will alternate teaching on Fridays. You will see both teachers at Open
House, Parent-Teacher Conference Day, school programs, and at various other
times throughout the school year. Both teachers will communicate daily with
each other concerning the classroom progress.
Mrs. Roark and Mrs. Bowen are both 1999 Lipscomb Graduates. We both began
our teaching careers at Hattie Cotton Elem. While teaching there we earned
our Master’s Degree at Trevecca University and went on to complete our +30.
In 2004 we transferred to Shayne Elementary where we each taught third
grade.
This will be the second year that we are joining forces and combining our
skills and talents to offer your child a great educational experience. We
believe that your child will find this year very rewarding because they will
have two teachers who are each giving 100%. The children will also benefit
from having two perspectives when assessing their abilities and needs. We
are very excited about job sharing this year and look forward to the
benefits it has to offer to your children. If you have any questions please
call us at 332-3020 ext. 216.
