What we are studying in Room 215

October 12th, 2009

  

Reading– We will be reading The Astronaut and the Onion.

Strategy: Make Inferences & Analyze

Skill: Character

 Words to know: endless, realistic, universe, astronaut, sensible, protested, and paralyzed.

Please make sure you reread the story and study the vocabulary for the test on Thursday this week!

Writing– We will working on punctuating dialogue  and putting onomatopoeia’s to use. Ask your child what and ono-mat-o-poeia is? Also ask them if they are using their writers’ toolbox when they are creating their stories?

Spellng– Unit 9: Sitton Spelling. Core words: fast, felt, kept, notice and can’t. We will be  reviewing contractions, possessives, prefixes,  and suffixes.  Don’t forget to study your words to learn and core word list for the test on Thursday!

MathWe will continue to work on  double digit multiplication and division with remainders. Ask your child to tell you the order of operations!

Make sure you are studying those multiplication facts for our math masters quizzes.

Social Studies– We  will be continuing discussing explorers, Chapter 4 in our book.

Science– We will continue to  study the relationships of the sun, moon, and Earth. We will begin charting the moon each night this week.
