Discipline Policy

I am pleased to have your child in my class this year. In order to
guarantee your child and all the students in my classroom the excellent
educational climate they deserve, I will tolerate no student stopping me
from teaching or another student from learning. I prefer the student to be
responsible for their own behavior and allow them to learn
responsibilities that will earn them positive recognition. Therefore, I will
utilize the following classroom code of conduct for the 2009-2010
school year.

	RULES IN OUR CLASSROOM
*Listen carefully and follow directions the first time given.
*Be prepared everyday for class. Have necessary supplies and
       homework.
*Work quietly. Do not disturb others who are working.
*Respect others. Be kind with your words and actions.
 *Respect school and personal property.
 *Work and play safely.
 *Obey all school rules
 *Always do your best.

	POSITIVE RECOGNITION
 *Praise
 *Positive notes
 *Reward time
 *Candy or food treat
 *Fun Friday
*Coupons (homework passes, computer time, sit at the teacher's desk
      for a day, etc..)
 *Eat lunch with the teacher
 *Star Performance Six Week Parties

I will be using a reward and consequence system to complement this
code of conduct. Students will want to avoid getting "blue cards".
Anytime a rule is broken the student will place a blue card in his or her
pocket on the class "Don't Monkey Around" behavior chart. Positive behavior may
result in losing the blue card. It is easy to remember if you think of it as
"chasing away the blues." The consequence chart is as follows:
0 blue cards= Earn Fun Friday time and a coupon
1-2 blue cards= Earn Fun Friday time, but no coupon
3-4 blue cards= 15 minutes of Fun Friday time
5-6 blue cards= No Fun Friday time
7-8 blue cards= No Fun Friday and extra classwork
Severe disruptions= Immediate call to parents, time away from
class, and /or office visit with principal

A second aspect of the consequence system will address the
classwork/homework component. Students will receive a red card when
assignments are not turned in on time. Any student with a red ticket (or
any unfinished work that has not been completed) by Friday will not
receive any "Fun Friday" time. At the end of each six weeks, any missing
or incomplete assignment will result in a zero.

In their agenda book you will be able to track their behavior. It is certainly
in your child’s best interest that we work together with regard to his or
her academic and social progress. I will strive to keep you informed of
your child’s progress and I hope that I have your support in return.
