Mrs. Smartt’s Announcements
What a great week! All the boys and girls are working so hard on writing
their sentences! I am so proud of them! Please see our updated website
weekly. There is now a specific page for Sight Words and Scott
Foresman/Reading. Sight Words and Reading skills will be posted on our class
web page instead of being sent home.
We made paper bag reindeer this week! They even have red noses! We read
reindeer stories and made our very own antler headbands! In math, we have
been measuring with unifix cubes and the children did great with this unit!
You can practice this with your child! Get any household item such as paper
clips, toothpicks, blocks, q-tips etc. and measure different items. Example:
How many paperclips did it take to measure the pencil?
Next week, we will be learning about the letter “Bb and Nn”. The children
will be making a wreath in our art center! We will finish up measurement and
begin “telling time” using both an analog and digital clock!
We have so many wonderful items for our precious Christmas Angel! The
children are very excited! Thank you so much for your wonderful donations!
Don’t forget our book exchange! Each boy needs to bring a $5 (or less book),
wrapped for a boy with your child’s name on it. Each girl needs to bring a$5

We are adopting a Christmas Angel!
As you are going on your shopping adventure over the Thanksgiving break, I
ask that you think of our precious Christmas Angel. This is a tradition in my
class. Please involve your child in this if you wish to participate. It is
such a wonderful experience! The information is below. Please ONLY send in
brand new purchased items. DO NOT WRAP THEM. We will wrap them as a class and
will need volunteers to help. These are due December 10th—No later. We will
wrap presents on December 11th! We need wrapping paper, tape and bows as well.
