
This page will give you a rough idea of what I plan to do each week. Things
may change as the week goes by so please check back often.
Math - We will continue in chapter 5, subtraction. This week we will focus on
regrouping the 10s, 100s, and 1000s place and subtracting across zeros. We
will have a multiplication quiz over 5s on Tuesday. We will then begin our 10
facts.
Reading - Nate the Great: San Francisco Detective is our reading selection.
The genre is mystery. The test over this story will be Thursday. The literacy
skills covered will be story elements (characters, setting, plot), dictionary
skills, and decoding long words.
Spelling - The words this week focus on the ling a and long e sound. The test
over these words will be Friday. The words are: easy, pail, gain, found,
grade, these, theme, investigate, meet, reach, scream, late, name, mystery,
seat, raise, solve, saved, leave, search The bonus word is cytoplasm.
Language - This week we will begin studying the types of sentences. We will
learn and use the 3rd grade words for sentence types. This week we will focus
on imperative(command) and exclamatory. We will complete DOL each morning with
a quiz on Friday. This is also the time we practice our cursive handwriting.
We will review lower case cursive letters and practice our names.
Social studies - We will continue our map skills unit. This week we will work
with grid maps, weather maps, product maps, and how to use a map scale. Our
test will not be till next Wednesday. I will send a study guide home closer to
test day.
