Why is there so little homework?

We 'practice' in the classroom as much as possible. When
academic work is done at home, sometimes there is too much
confusion and aggravation to make it worthwhile. We'd prefer to
avoid this as much as possible. Most homework will consist of
studying for tests and keeping up with their reading.

What is the grading policy?

Students' grades will be calculated from numerous activities,
quizzes and tests. Classwork grades are given primarily on an
effort basis. . . but we reserve the right to grade on accuracy
every now and then! We will be writing frequently, but not all
writing will be graded. There will be a six weeks test in each
subject that will count as 25% of their six weeks grade.

Parents and students have access to grades online. Please be
reasonable with your expectations - some things take a bit of
time to grade!

When do I make-up work I have missed?

All work is the responsibility of the student and arrangements
need to made with us. It needs to be completed and turned in
within 5 school days.

What happens when work is turned in late?

Any work that is not turned in when due will receive 80% credit.
After one week, the grade will be recorded as '0'.

How can students improve their grades?

Grades can be improved in several ways. One of the best ways is
to be in class and involved EVERY DAY! Getting behind is a
definite grade killer. Active participation and 100% effort will
make a HUGE difference. And finally, chat less and think more!
Learning to think for themselves is something that will help
them - always!

What do you expect from your students?

We expect all students to treat all other human beings with
respect. That respect extends to not only the students' physical
being, but their thoughts, dreams, hopes, belongings and every
other aspect of that person.

We expect EFFORT!

What about discipline?

We usually don't have many discipline problems in class. We have
high expectations of our students and find they usually respond
accordingly. However, if a student chooses to continually disrupt
class or not complete assignments, we will have a conference with
the student, contact
parents, or refer them to the office for additional consequences.
