LINE DANCE VOCABULARY:

1. LINE DANCE_
A dance performed without a partner in lines.
2. 4 CORNER LINE DANCE - A line dance which includes a turn to the right or left that repeats
the sequence ofo dance steps facing all 4 walls.
3. Basic steps - usually a grapevine or 4 count step touch to the right and then to the left.
4. Grapevine- Starting to the right a right left right left step in which the left foot
crosses behind the right.
5. Heel together- Right heel touching forward then back repeating same move with the left foot.
6. Walk it out- A step performed where you move right and left feet toether on the balls of
each foot first to the right and then to the left.
7. Cha- Cha- A latin step in 6/8 time You rock forward on your right foot then step back on
your left foot, bring your right foot back beside left and step right left right counting 1-2-3
or saying Cha-cha-cha.
Rhythm Reading
1.Rhythm - Value of notes in a song or exercise
2.Melody- The tune of a song
3. Staff - The lines and spaces notes are written on.
4. Measure- The rectangle that the staff is divided in.
5. Barline_ The line that divides the staff into measures.
6> Double bar line- Double bar placed at the end of a song.
7. Time signature- The fraction whose top number tells you how many beats in a measure.
8. o - whole note This note gets one sound that lasts for four counts
9. whole rest - Four counts of silence.
10. dotted half note- this note gets one sound that last for 3 counts.
11. half note- this note gets one sound that lasts for 2 counts.
12. half rest- Gets 2 counts of silence
14. quarter note - this note gets one count of sound held for one count
quarter rest - gets one count of silence.
15. eighth note- this note gets i/2 count of sound.
16. eighth rest - This gets 1/2 count of silence.
17. sixtenth note - This note gets 1/4 count of sound
18. sixtenth rest - this gets 1/4 count of silence.
