October 29:
Computer Lab Day: We will watch the quick video of Edgar Allan Poe's "The
Raven." It is a cartoon featuring "The Simpon's." So cute!
- Complete My Skills Tutor "Reading Comprehension B." (2, 3, 5 period)
- Complete My Skills Tutor "Reading Vocabulary B." (6th period)
- Work in small groups on memorizing stanza of "Annabel Lee."
October 28:
-Some classes will continue taking their preposition quizzes. (Hopefully
we'll finish soon!)
-Review Edgar Allan Poe Webquest Outline
-Read & Listen to "The Raven" read by famous actor, Christopher Walken, on-
line. Students will answer discussion questions after story.

October 27: We are working on our "Hollis Woods in a Bag" project in class.
Also, today we began a quick study on Edgar Allan Poe for Halloween. Tonight
students will be doing an "open search" webquest biography on Edgar Allan
Poe. Each student was given a stanza from his famous poem "Annabel Lee" to
memorize.
October 26: "The Monsters Are Due On Maple Street": Read as a class from
Literature book. Page 755

October 20: We are working on an in-class project covering our classroom
novel " A Picture of Hollis Woods."

are titled " GENRES" and "THEME."

September 17: A new My Skills Tutor assignment will begin today. Work on it
each day for a few minutes and you will finish quickly! The assignment
is "Usage- Language Arts" (6th period Usage B) This will cover all the parts
of speech. We have already covered several of these in class.
September 16: "Forgive My Guilt" poem. We will read and anlyze this inspiring
poem about making choices. Discussion of theme, setting, imagery, and of
course, figurative language that is used throughout poem.
I hope everyone finished your My Skills Tutor Comprehension A (6th period-
Comprehension B) Grades have been recorded.
September 15: Don't forget your Reading Goal Book Report is due today! It
must be in the 5 point paragraph essay format.
September 14: Discussion and notes on sound devices (onomatopoeia, end rhyme,

begin an essy about "What do they expect from Language Arts, etc......"
August 18: Notes on "Plot Diagram." We will learn 5 definitions that go
along
with the plot diagram. Students will create their own plot diagram in class.
Each class will be given a fairy tale to read at home and create a second
plot diagram.
August 19: Computer Lab- Preview test on Language Arts.
Review in class notes on "plot."
August 20: Brain Pop: Nouns activity and quiz

**6th period- "Animal Farm" We will begin reading a classroom novel today.
Notes will be taken on: irony, satire, allegory, and vice.
Read Chapter 1 and answer discussion questions.
