Announcements:

** Interim reports cards will be distributed on Wednesday, January 28.

** The state writing prompt will be on Tuesday, February 3, for eighth grade students.

** Softball workouts for pitchers and catchers will be on Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 2:45 until 3:30.  All appropriate medical paperwork and forms must be submitted to the office prior to workouts and tryouts.  Any girl who wants to try out for the softball team must have all paperwork on file no later than 2:30 on February 3.  Tryouts will be held on February 9, 10, and 11.

** Save the Planet will be going to Central Elementary to read to first graders on Thursday, January 29.  They will return to Vance for Coke floats.  Permission slips should be picked up in the guidance office and returned to Mr. Walker.

** Congratulations to our band members who were selected to participate in the 12th Annual Virginia Tech Honors Band.  Representing Vance were Lucas Gaskins, Karlee Gibbon, Gabe Gounaris, Zach Hughes, and Sean McCarty.  Five hundred students from 180 schools in eight states participated.

** Parent conferences will be held on Tuesday, February 17, from 3:00 until 6:00 P.M.  Call 652-9449 to leave a message for the child's team, or use the team website to contact a teacher via e-mail.

** Schools will be closed from Friday, February 13, through Monday, February 16, for Winter Break.
