About The Teacher

I am a graduate of Tennessee Technological University and this is my 9th year 
as a 6th grade Language Arts teacher.  I love teaching although there are 
some days when I wonder what was I thinking when I decided to become a 
teacher!!!! I enjoy getting to know my students and enjoy working with the 
fantastic staff at Central Middle. I became a teacher with the thought that I 
could make a difference in the lives of my students. Sometimes I feel like I 
am accomplishing this - sometimes I don't.

I love football (especially UT football) and rarely miss a 
UT game.  I enjoy talking to the kids about football.  Sixth grade this 
year is not the same without Chad talking football on Monday mornings... 
This year I have Justin and Jonathan talking football although they give me 
a hard time about Peyton especially when the Titans play the Colts!  
For fun I like to run and have recently competed in a couple of 5K races.  I 
also enjoy lifting weights and mountain biking.   

And, last but not least -- I love to read and I try to encourage all my kids 
to find something they enjoy reading.  It's important for kids to know that 
a love for reading can take them anywhere they want to go.
