PRACTICE!!!

Each student should aim to practice their scales, book
exercises, and concert music for at least 2 hours a week.

More practice time
will guarantee better musicianship and accuracy.

Monday-
Beg. Band" We will rehearse music for our concert. Today's focus will be
on "Montego Bay." Woodwinds will have sectional time, to work on rhythms.
Percussion will work on rhythmic accuracy and bounce strokes.

Tuesday-
Brass Class: We will be rehearsing Ancient Moon. We will begin with measure
18. We will take the section slower to ensure proper pitches and rhythms. I
will separate low brass from upper brass for short sectionals.

Beginning Band: Working on "Montego Bay." Students will start after the 2nd
ending to work on rhythmic accuracy.

Wednesday-

and pitch problems.

at meas. 57. Percussion will have a sectional at the beginning of class.

on style-and articulation. )slur 2, tongue 2 as in meas. 4, 6, etc.

Friday-
Brass Class:
"Ancient Moon"- Meas. 57. I will work briefly with each section as the other
sections "pretend play." Low brass takes melody in m. 72, so we will learn to
blend and balance throughout this section. Articulation (slur 2 tongue 2)
will be discussed for this section and we will begin by slowly learning the
section. Work on "Trumpet Voluntary" for intonation problems.

Beginning Band:
Review quarter and eighth note rhythms, like those in Sawmill Creek.
Then we will continue to rehearse the first 16 measures. We will rehearse
Montego Bay again too.
