I am beginning my 35th year as a professional teacher. However my mother
says I taught neiborhood kids from the time I was three. I guess I
was "bossy" even back then!
I received my undergraduate degree in Social Studies Education at Oral
Roberts University in Tulsa, Oklahoma. I fininished my Master's degree in
Elementary Education from Tennessee Tech University at Cookeville, Tennessee
in 1979. And finally I completed my Doctorate in Education at the University
of Tennessee at Knoxville. Believe it or not, I like going to school. I am
highly qualified to teach Middle School Math as well as Algebra 1.
My immediate family consists of my mother, Mabel, and my father, Glen, who is
at the Ben Atchley State Veterans' Home in Karns; and my sister and brother-
in-law, Tracy & Hotsy, as well as my nephew, Tory.
I love teaching middle school (most days) and especially Math. At WCMS we
are very proud of our Math program and our Math students. This year we are
excited to be part of the new Distance Learning Program. Every morning at
8:30 our Algebra 1 class joins 4 other 8th grade classes from four other
schools for instruction. It is definitely a history making endeavor.
Wartburg Central Middle School is committed to a student-centered learning
environment based upon high expectations, academic achievement, and mutual
accountability.
