Career

For many young adults, the prospect of embarking on a career, at times, can
be daunting. Since students probably are aware of the current realities of
the world of work, they may question what the future holds for them. We have
endeavored to produce career exploration and planning materials that are
future-oriented and empowering to all students. We have emphasized the
importance of planning and decision making, believing these skills will
serve students not only in realizing their post-high school goals and
subsequent career transitions, but also in other areas of their lives.

Career Voyages exists to help you find out which occupations are in-demand.
To learn more about how these industries and occupations were selected,
click here. This web site also gives those high demand occupations which do
not require years and years of school. In fact, there are lots of
alternatives to a 4-year degree, including, apprenticeships, vocational
certificates, and 2-year degrees.

The O*NETTM team has designed a set of self-directed career
exploration/assessment tools to help workers consider and plan career
options, preparation, and transitions more effectively. They also are
designed for use by students who are exploring the school-to-work transition.

The website we've been using this year is the TCIDS website, which you can
find below. I strongly encourage students to explore this website, the
careers listed, and the universities to make themselves fully aware of all the
opportunities available to them!
