Students,

Are you concerned about dating violence??  There is a contest sponsored by Avon that you might be interested in.   Go to SomebodySaySomething.org for the contest rules.  You will be creating a 2-minute video as part of the contest.

Students

College bound junior and senior females, there is a scholarship sponsored by the National Foundation for Women Legislators, essay required.  The website for information is www.womenlegislators.org.  

 

Seniors who plan to attend Cumberland University who have an ACT score of 20 or higher and a 3.0 or higher, see Mrs. Hodges about the Robert C. Bone    scholarship

Seniors,

Register at www.53EducationLending.com/TheRoad  for a chance to win one of 10 $530 scholarships.

 

The Lebanon Business and Professional Women organization is offering several scholarships - one to a female who plans to attend Cumberland, one to any student who plans to attend college based on need and academic performance, and one to any student who shows exemplary qualities of leadership.  See Mrs. Hodges for the application.

 

Seniors,

Students,

See Mrs. Hodges about summer job opportunities at Cedars of Lebanon State Park.  There are jobs as crew members and crew leaders and lifeguards.  You must be at least 16 years old.

Senior athletes,

There is a $500 scholarship that you can apply for through The BigSun Organization.  Go to the website at www.bigsunathletics.com

Students,

Mr. Tenbarge has an ACT prep program that he is making available to students after school in the computer lab.  Please see him to find out what days this is available and to sign up to attend.  An ACT prep can make the difference in a couple of points on your composite score.  A composite score of 21 will earn the $4000 hope lottery scholarship! 

Seniors,  If your parent is a member of the Wilson County Teachers Association, see Mrs. Hodges about a scholarship.  You must have a 3.5 gpa to be eligible
 
Seniors,

There is a $500 scholarship sponsored by the Wilson County Democratic Women.  400 word essay required.  See Mrs. Hodges.

Seniors males who are planning to attend TN Tech, see Mrs. Hodges about The Appointed Man Scholarship.

 

Are there any seniors who plan attend ETSU and major in Engineering?  See Mrs. Hodges

 

If you are planning to pursue a degree that will prepare you for a job within the credit industry or closely related financial services industry, see Mrs. Hodges about the CIC Foundation scholarship.

  

The HOPE Scholarship has been awarded to the following:  Sarah Reeder, Andy Ligon, John L. Kneisel and Jacqueline Maravia.  The current value is $4,000.00!! 

 

Seniors,

There is a scholarship called TN Marine Family Fallen Heroes that will be awarding $1000 scholarships to seniors in Tennessee.  An essay on Patriotism is required.  See Mrs. Hodges.

 The Scarlett Family Foundation is offering a number of scholarships for students pursuing a career in business or who have entrepreneurial interests.  Participation in FBLA or DECA is also necessary.  See Mrs. Hodges

A reminder to seniors, if you plan to graduate as a TN Scholar, you must submit your 20 hours of community service to Mrs. Hodges soon.  The seniors who have done this are,  Bethany Barrett, Parker Teague, Tiffany Fennell, Jeffrey Hamilton, Devin Hartman, Jennifer Pedigo, Krystyn Puckett and Megan Rivera and Crissy Murray.

The Sertoma Club of Nashville plans to award 4 scholarships totaling $9500 to students through an essay contest.  See Mrs. Hodges for details.  

 

All men must register with the selective service when they turn 18.  Those who fail to register can be denied many important opportunities like student loans, government jobs, and a driver’s license in most states.  Register at www.sss.gov

Nominate yourself for the SAMMY award sponsored by USA Today at bodybymilk.com if you are a high school athlete with academic excellence.

Students 14 years old and older are invited to participate in a new Create a Greeting Card national competition for a $10,000 cash scholarship prize.  The website for contest rules is gallerycollection.com.

 

Seniors, There is a Teacher Training Scholarship available at tnpta.org.

 

Students, enter the halftime heroes essay contest and tell about a hero in your life and our school could win $5,000.  Enter online at halftimeheroes.com.

  

If you plan to attend college in the south and major in a garden or environmental related field, see Mrs. Hodges about a scholarship.

 

Seniors, the Burger King scholarship is open to those who have at least a 2.5 GPA and who work an average of 15 hours a week.  The website is bk.com/scholars.  There are 700 $1,000 scholarships available.

Seniors, there is an essay contest for all high school seniors in Tennessee.  The topic is credit card offers and the impact on your financial goals.  See Mrs. Hodges for the website. 

Seniors can register to win a $1000 scholarship towards their first year expenses in college.  Go to suntrusteducation.com to sign up.  One winner will be chosen every two weeks from Oct. 31st through May. 15th.  

The 2008 Governors School applications are now on line at www.tennessee.gov/education/govschools.  These are summer, 5 week programs at various TN colleges on various topics.  There is no cost and 6 hours of college credit is possible.  If you are a bright, motivated 10th or 11th grader, please check out these challenging and intensive learning experiences!
