| In addition to our literature units, we will be preparing for the Tennessee
Writing Assessment in February. I will be sending home information
concerning this test. We will be writing 5-paragraph essays on persuasive
topics to prepare for this assessment. We will be doing both timed writings
in class, as well as process writing assignments outside of class. The test
is scored 0-6 with 4 being passing. We are working to move more of our
juniors into the 5-6 range in our continuing efforts to make our students
ready for post-high school education and their future careers. It is
important that our juniors take these assignments seriously and do their
best to follow teacher suggestions to improve their scores. We will be
looking at sample papers in order to better understand the scoring process.
