The Weakley County Reading Railroad provides free, quality books for all children ranging in age from birth up to the fifth birthday. Parents simply complete the form and the child receives a book a month delivered to the home. This is free of charge to parents. The Dolly Parton Imagination Library helps to sponsor the costs for the books and delivery. The local affiliate, Weakley County Reading Railroad and the state of Tennessee help pay for the remaining costs. Promoting literacy and education to the citizens of Weakley County and Tennessee are the rationale for providing free, devlopmentally appropriate books to children in Weakley County.
