Is my child doing o.k.?

You can answer this question yourself. Touch a letter, number,
shape or words and ask them to name it. If they cannot tell you
the correct answer, point to the letter (for example, t)
and say, "Is this a (p) or a (t)?" If your child says, "P', say
the following,
"No, this is not (p). Is this a (p) or a (t)? Repeat this
procedure until your child gives you the correct response.
Children must be given every opportunity to achieve success if
you want them to continue trying when they are unsure of answers.

What can we wear on picture day?

Your child may wear dress code or BETTER.
It's best to send a change of clothes so we can go outside in
dress code.

My child is not decoding 3 letter words yet.

Children will decode when they are developmentally ready, just as
they walked when they were ready. Encourage your child when the
going gets rough. You may always sound out the word sounds,
h/a/t/ and help them try to hear the word.

Where is our Math

We use manipulatives almost EVERY day when we do our Math
lessons and NOT MUCH PAPERWORK.
We use teddy bears and pattern blocks, Scotties, pens, markers
and any other items we have in the room for sorting,
patterns, addition and subtraction readiness, graphing and
ordinal positions.
We use pennies, nickels and dimes, and any other items in the
room for addition and subtraction
readiness and buying things from 1 cent to $1.00 and for coin
recognition. We use shapes for sorting by color, shape and size,
playing cards for greater/bigger and less/little and numeral
recognition, linking cubes for patterns and addition
and subtraction readiness, songs for numeral recognition and
telling time to the hour with our little plastic clocks, crackers
and such for whole and halves, and we have calendar time
daily to identify the months, days of the week, the year, AB,
ABB, AABB, and ABC patterns and numerals. We use our shoes for
graphing, lids for sorting and cereal for to make and extend
patterns.
You are MORE THAN welcome to come see us in action.

May I come to see you for a conference?

Sure. Please feel free to schedule a visit at my planning time
or I'll be happy to speak with you after the children leave on
Mon.-Fri. or we can schedule to meet at McDonalds or SUBWAY or
Cinco de Mayo :),somewhere on this side of town, after school.
