About The Teacher Label:
About The Teacher
Mr. Akins is married to Connie (teacher at Stoner Creek) and they have 2 children Ashley and Collin. We also have a cat named Goatee and the coolest dog named Homer. Homer definitely keeps us busy, he is a mess:) Mr. Akins was born on February 15, 19?? in Fayette, a small town in Alabama. He grew up in Mississippi, in a town called Columbus. Columbus is located 30 minutes from Mississippi State University (Home of the Bulldogs). He has 2 brothers and 2 sisters. Chris is his older brother and Alan is his younger brother. Brenda and Glenda (twins) are the youngest of all siblings. Mr. Akins moved to middle Tennessee when he was in high school and graduated from Dupont H.S. After high school he attended the University of Tennessee in Knoxville (Go Big Orange). After graduating from UT he moved to St. Louis and worked and lived there for about five years. He became homesick for the south and moved back to Tennessee. It was then he really became serious about teaching. He went back to school, this time he attended Middle Tennessee State University and has since earned a Master's Degree in Education. Mr. Akins' fisrt teaching position was with West Elementary in Wilson County. From there he moved to West Wilson Middle School where he currently is the Assistant Principal. He is very proud of all of the students and athletes. When Mr. Akins is not teaching or coaching he likes to: * Hang out with family * Play with his dog, Homer * Go fishing, especially deep sea fishing * Attend sporting events, He loves UT football * Go camping with family and friends * Eat out, he loves to eat * Spend time with nieces and nephews * Listen to music and go to music concerts * Play Trivia
