We discussed questions on the Exam Review Sheet.  Students were also given a 
sheet with the terms and formulas that they need to knows for the exam.  B 
day exams will be given on Tuesday.
No written assignment, but students need to study for the exam.
RICA
Students were given a sample checkbook.  We discussed how to complete a 
deposit slip, how to write checks, and how to list the transactions and 
balance their account on their check register.

4B Algebra
We discussed questions on the Exam Review Sheet.  The exam will be given on 
Tuesday.
No written assignment, but students need to study for the exam.

Wednesday May 21st A Day

2A and 4A Pre-Algebra
During class we went over the correct answers for the Exam Review Sheet.  We 
then discussed any questions that the students had over this.  I also gave 
them another study sheet that lists the terms and formulas that they need to 
know for the exam.  
No written homework, but students need to study for the exam on Friday.

Guidance Counselor and students from Wilson Central come to talk with the

the back of the booklet to check the answers.  They should go back over the 
ones they missed and be prepared to ask questions in class tomorrow.  The 
Gateway Test is Tuesday, May 6th.

We discussed the Bankrate.com website, and I showed students how to use it 
to get different types of financial information. I also returned the 
worksheets where students chose a home and showed them what the monthly 
payment would be on a 15 year mortgage and a 30 year mortgage.  Students 
were then asked to think about the monthly payment compared to their income, 
and if they felt that the home was too expensive to use the ads and select a 
less expensive home.

Algebra
We discussed graphing systems of linear equations on graph paper and using a 
graphing calculator.  We will have the Chapter 7 test on Thursday.

Student read a summary that discussed 12 questions to consider when 
selecting a car.  They were asked to pick 8 of the questions and briefly 
write why that is important to consider when selecting a car.  They were 
then given newspaper ads to look through and select a car.  They completed a 
short worksheet giving information about the car and the price including 
sales tax.
After lunch, students had FLEX (homework) time.

Friday March 28th Stack Day

Pre-Algebra classes (2A,2B, 4A)
Students turned in the homework from p. 317 and p. 613.
I then returned the answer sheets from the TCAP Diagnostic Test and had 
students mark the questions that they missed on the Student Recording Chart 
in the front of the TCAP workbook.  Below each question box, it gives the 
practice page number that corresponds with that skill.  Students are to 
complete the practice pages for the problems that they missed.  This will 
count as a major project and therefore a test grade.  The work must be 
completed and the workbook turned in by Friday April 11th.
The regular homework assignment that will be due the next regular class 
period is in the regular Practice Workbook, do the practice for Section 7.1.

RICA
Students completed a worksheet on finding the down payment on a car purchase.

ALGEBRA
Students were given the answer sheets from the TCAP Diagnostic Test.  They 
are to follow the same directions that I listed above for the Pre-Algebra 
students.  Their deadline is also Friday April 11th.

We finished the notes for Section 6.4.

RICA/FINANCE
We discussed some of the things to consider when buying a car, terms 
involved in purchasing or financing a car, and car insurance.  
Students completed two assignments in class:
Students were asked to read a 1 page article on buying new vs. buying used.  
They then were asked to pick what they felt was the most important advantage 
and drawback of each type of purchase.
Students were then given a list of vocabulary used in purchasing or 
financing a car.  They were asked to read the information and then pick any 
10 of the terms to define in their own words.  The definitions were written 
on the back of the first assignment and turned in.

4B Algebra

We discussed and turned in the workbook assignment that was made before the 
break.  Students then took a Diagnostic Test to determine skills that need

Thursday March 6th B Day

Students turned in the homework.
We then took a Diagnostic Test to see what skills we need to work on after 
Spring Break to prepare the students for the April TCAP tests.
There is no regular homework, but students were given a Sudoku puzzle for 
extra credit.  In order for the extra credit points to count on this nine 
weeks, the puzzles must be turned in by the end of the day tomorrow.

RICA/FINANCE 
Students took the information from several previous assignments to develop a 
family budget.  If their income is more than their expenses, the budget is 
balanced and the work was turned in.  If their expenses are more than their 
budget, they must come up with a plan and balance their budget by the end of 
class tomorrow.

4B Algebra

Workbook pr. 6.2 (do not graph) and 6.3 (Draw the graphs).  This will be due 
after Spring Break.  I also gave students a Sudoku puzzle for extra credit.  
This must be turned in by the end of the day tomorrow.

Wednesday March 5, 2008 A Day

2A and 4A Pre-Algebra
Students turned in homework.
We then took a Diagnostic Test to help me determine which skills each 
individual student needs to work on before the TCAP tests in April.  The 
test will not count as a grade, but it will determine which pages of the 
TCAP workbook the student will be assigned after Spring Break.  These 
workbook pages will count toward the 4th nine weeks grade.
Students do not have any regular homework, but I gave them a Sudoku puzzle 
that may be completed for extra credit.  It will be due on Friday.

RICA
Students worked on Tangram puzzles, a puzzle based on 7 basic geometric 
shapes.  Students worked in groups to see if they could make some different 
shapes from a printed list.

We then had Silent Reading and Flex time.

on household expenses in order to complete a budget project. I hope that you

better idea how much household expenses run.
We also completed a worksheet dealing with credit card debt and read an 
article dealing with what happens if you don't pay your credit card bills.  
I asked students to write a 1/2 page summary of the article.

Students were assigned a worksheet on angle and line relationships.  We also 
went to the computer lab and began working on the Study Island program.  
This is a program that reviews the TCAP standards for all subject areas. 
Students can use this at home as well as at school. It is a great program 
for preparation for TCAP testing and review of subject content.  Please 
encourage your child to use this program.  Students took the math pretest 
today and if they had time they worked on some of the math lessons.  I will 
make specific assignments during regular math classes with the goal of 
completing all of the material before the TCAP tests in April.

Wednesday Feb. 20th B Day
2B Pre-Algebra
TCAP Transparency 42
The homework and Sudoku puzzle were turned in.
I gave students the Chapter 6 Vocabulary Builder handout and asked them to 
define the terms from Sections 6.1-6.2.  I also gave them a handout that we 
will use for class notes as we discuss these two sections.  Students were 
given a graph that may be completed for extra credit.
Notebooks were updated.

RICA
I gave students information about the Study Island computer program.  They 
were given an introduction to the use of the program and were given a slip 
of paper with their username and current password.  The first time that they 
log on to use the program they need to change the password to their library 
code.  This program can be accessed at school, at home, at the public 
library, or from any computer with internet access.

4B Algebra
We discussed and turned in the homework.

I also gave students a Sudoku puzzle for bonus points.

Students were given a handout that we will use for the class notes on 
Sections 6.1 and 6.2.  We began discussing this material and will continue 
this next time.

Students were given a graph that may be completed for 25 bonus points.  It 
will be due next class period.

RICA
Students worked in groups to complete a worksheet on matchstick puzzles.  We 
then had Silent Reading and FLEX time.
