Welcome to the Buccaneers Mini School!
2009-2010
The Best Mini School at West Wilson Middle
Dear Parents and Guardians,
We welcome you and your students to West Wilson Middle School’s Executive mini school. This school year is another new beginning for you and your child. It is also an exciting time in the life of your student; before we know it, middle school will soon be left behind, and he or she will be entering high school. Many changes will be taking place, and many challenges will be encountered in order to make this transition.
Eighth grade is a pivotal time in your child’s academic career. Preparing for high school and life beyond is a serious task. In order to better prepare our children, the state of Tennessee has adopted new curriculum standards that are rigorous and aligned with national standards. For all students to learn and make progress, students must be prepared, cooperate, study, and exhibit responsible behaviors. Study habits formed this year will be carried over to his or her freshman year. Registration for high school will occur in the spring, and we want your student equipped for success.
We also know that cooperation between the school and the home is essential for each child’s success. The more you are involved in the educational process, the more your child benefits. Please read the following pages carefully. All three eighth grade mini schools have the same general academic and behavior guidelines. If you ever have any questions regarding curriculum, policies, events, consequences, etc., please do not hesitate to contact any one of your child’s teachers. Sometimes a question can forestall confusion or misunderstanding. Please remember that your student is the critical link in this communication, and we will rely upon your student to transport letters and other important information responsibly and in a timely fashion.
Thank you for sharing your student with us. We look forward to another great school year, and we want this to be the best year ever for your teenager. Feel free to visit us, for you are always welcome in our classrooms. Working together, we can provide an atmosphere in which your child can learn and mature. Thank you for your cooperation and support.
