Students are reading an article and discussing the author's purpose for writing; the audience; genre; and main idea. Students will also write a summary of the article.

Students are using a science-related article about the cardiovascular system to practice reading informational text. We are studying related vocabulary and spelling words, and re-reading for fluency. The vocabulary quiz will be given this Friday.

Students are reading several texts with the theme "crime and punishment" and using the skill of cause and effect to understand and use the concept in reading.

Students will read independently each class period in order to increase their decoding, fluency, and comprehension skills.
