I was born in Lawrenceburg, Tennessee. As a young child, my family moved
around quite a bit. I have lived in Georgia, Florida, and of course, here
in
Tennessee. My family finally settled down here in Mt. Juliet. I was a
student here long ago, when it was Mt. Juliet Junior High School. I have
many wonderful memories of this school. I hope that all of my students will
carry great memories of our school with them.
I have two young children. Savanah is ten years old. Chase is seven years
old.
I graduated from MTSU in 1997. This is my tenth year of teaching. I teach
culture studies/basic introduction to Spanish class to my sixth grade,
culture studies/introduction to French to my seventh grade, and culture
studies/introduction to Italian to my eighth grade exploratory.
I also teach Spanish 1 to the eighth grade. This
class is year long, with a test to be administered at the end for
placement into Spanish 2 as a Freshman. This class is taught using the same
text and materials as the high schools use.
Since the majority of the hispanic people in our area originate from
Mexico, my classes focus mostly on the Mexican culture and South American
dialect of the Spanish language.
I want all of my students to leave my class with respect for different
cultures.
