6th Grade English-Mrs. Swink

Welcome to the Sixth Grade Viking's Team! We are excited to have your
child! As 6th grade parents, I feel your anxiety to know that everything is
going well. I want to make sure that your child is happy, comfortable, and
on task. Please feel to call me at 354-3652 and leave a message concerning
any questions or concerns. I do not mind, or if you would rather e-mail me,
that it fine, too. On another note, I do not give alot of homework. On
Wednesday nights I do not give any, as many attend church services. I am
looking forward to a wonderful 2009-2010 school year, and our team of
teachers are dedicated to you and to the teaching of your child. Again,
welcome to West Wilson Middle School!

Respectfully,
Libby Swink

*** I give very little homework. Thus, if a student does not complete his
assignment, 20 points will be deducted. Their name goes up on the missing
assignment board. If they did the assignment, I give them a 100 for effort.
I will not remind them to do it. 10 points will be deducted
every time that they have my class and don't have that assignment to turn in.
I feel they are old enough to take on the responsibility of remembering to do
their homework, as they have an agenda and my website to refer to. I am sure
you want your child to grow and learn responsibilities. After all, that is a
major life skill, and I want the best for everyone of my kids; I love them!

Nov 30- Dec 4
The last three weeks of this year will be primarily committed to DGP (Daily
Grammar Practice) The students will be given sentences in which they will be
asked a variety of questions about the parts of speech in each. We have
already gone over all parts of speech; thus, they should be ready to go!
Have essays done by Friday. Students have had PLENTY of time in class to
finish. There should be no homework this week!
