Frequently Asked Questions: This page contains answers to common questions of students and parents.
  1. What are vocabulary flash cards?
  2. Can I retake a test?
  3. Is there an opportunity for extra credit?
  4. When are vocabulary flash cards due?
  5. Is there nightly homework?
--------------------------------------

What are vocabulary flash cards?

For each chapter I ask students to make flash cards as a study tool. I do
collect these before each vocabulary test for a grade. The student is to
write the vocabulary term on the front of a 3 by 5 index card and the
definition (from the glossary located in the back of the Science textbook)
on the back.

Can I retake a test?

I do allow test retakes on almost all tests. It is the student's
responsibilty to come to the teacher and ask to make it up during "A" Day
RICA. Retaking the test will cost the student one "Second Chance Pass" and
the new grade always replaces the first grade (whether higher or lower).

Is there an opportunity for extra credit?

I offer an extra credit assignment every nine weeks. Details are included on
the second nine weeks info sheet given out at the beginning of every nine
weeks.

When are vocabulary flash cards due?

Vocabulary flash cards are due right before we take the vocabulary test so
that students may study with them up until test time.

Is there nightly homework?

Yes! I do not assign written homework every night, but students should be
studying concepts covered in class that day in preperation for quizzes
and/or tests.
