May 19- All students must bring in any money that they owe for the library,
cafeteria, damaged texbooks ASAP. They will not be allowed to receive their
report card unless all fines have been taken care of prior to report card
day.
Please send .50 cents or a stamped envelope with your child so they will not
have to come on Saturday May 31st to pick up their report card.
JANUARY 28TH- I AM OFFICIALLY BACK! I HAD A WONDERFUL TIME OFF WITH MY
SON, ANDREW.
I originally stated that I would be returning January 15th, however I have
decided to stay at home with my son, Andrew, until Monday February 4th.
Thank you parents for your understanding and support during this time. I
hope everyone has a wonderful holiday season.
I will be starting my maternity leave on Monday November 12. This is two
weeks earlier than originally expected, because apparently I am having a big
baby. I will be out through January 15th. Students will be required to
follow the same classroom rules and regulations with the interim teacher.
If you have any questions please email another Knights teacher, as I will
not be updating this webpage during that time.
Thank you for your help, Happy Holidays!
Mrs. Mercer-
English
Hello!
Welcome to a wonderful and exciting year in 6th grade English. Writing is a
very important component of English. Hopefully by the end of the year all
of you will be more comfortable with your writing abilities for the 7th
grade.
Classroom Procedures
1. No eating/chewing gum or drinking in class
2. Raise your hand and wait until you are called on.
3. Be RESPECTFUL of your peers, guest speakers, and the teacher at all
times.
4. Bring ALL materials to class everyday: pencil, paper, pen, book, and
homework- You will not be allowed to go to your locker during class.
5. Stay in your seat until you are dismissed from class.
6. Do not write on your desk, the walls or any other item that does not
belong to you.
7. When announcements come on, you need to be quiet. If you are not
quiet you will be held over without a note to your next class and receive a
demerit.
8. Be on time to class, if you are late and do not have a note you will
receive a demerit.
9. If you are caught throwing paper in class, you will receive a
demerit and be required to clean all of the other paper on the floor in the
room.
10. English is for English work only. If you are doing other work it
will be taken up and thrown away. English is also not a time to be putting
on make-up or brushing your hair, save that for restroom breaks.
11. ALL work must be done in pencil, unless you are told otherwise.
Plagiarism
We will write a large amount of papers this year in English. Plagiarizing
is STEALING someone else’s work and using it as your own. If anyone is
caught plagiarizing they will receive an automatic ZERO on that assignment.
If you do your work like you are supposed to, and when you are supposed to
do it, we will not have this problem.
Make up work
It is up to each student to ask for their make up work after being absent.
When you are absent you are to get your make up work the first day you
return to school. If you miss one day it is due the very next day of
class. If it was assigned before you were absent it is due the day you
return to school. If you know you will be out ahead of time, you can ask
for your make up work in advance. Please ask for the work before class,
after class, during breaks or during homeroom only.
Grade List
Homework/Daily Work 100 points
Quizzes/ Pop Quizzes 200 points
Tests/ Projects/ Writing Assignments 300 points
Late Work
Late work will not be accepted if it is more than two days late. Late work
will be penalized twenty points.
