Band Class Rules 1. Students will be in class on time and be ready at the first downbeat. 2. Come to class prepared to play your instrument, not to do other classwork. 3. Warm up only on your own instrument. As a general rule, the drums don't need warming up. 4. Warm up intelligently. This means softly, in the lower register of your instrument, and usually involves long tones. Warm up before the start of the rehearsal. 5. Tune up at the beginning of the rehearsal. 6. Do not leave your seat after the rehearsal starts. 7. When the conductor gets on the podium, please be quiet. When he gets off the podium, you may talk quietly. 8. When the baton goes up, place your instrument in playing position and give the director your undivided attention. 9. Aviod playing between selections. Do not tune when the director gets back on the podium. 10. Do not chew gum or eat during rehearsal; don't bring food or drinks to class. 11. Take care of both personal and school equipment. 12. Do not leave the room without instructor's permission. 13. If you are ill and feel that you cannot play, check with the teacher. 14. Do not clean your instrument or do other maintenance during band class. This is to be done outside class time. 15. Play only your assigned instrument and play only your assigned part or part assigned by the instructor. 16. After rehearsal, put instrument into its case correctly, then into proper storage space. Also, put music away in proper slot. |
