I am enjoying my eighth year at Wilson Central High School. Before I
assumed my position at Wilson Central, I was a homemaker and worked part-
time as an RN (Registered Nurse). I graduated from McMinn County High
School, Athens, TN in 1979. I attended the University of TN at Knoxville
and graduated with Honors earning a Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing
(BSN). My first nursing job was in Nashville which eventually brought me to
Mt. Juliet! I am the mother of five. My eldest is a graduate of TN Tech
University with a degree in Education. I have two sons attending MTSU and
UTC respectively, my second daughter will be a freshman at UTK this fall and
my youngest is entering high school. I enjoy gardening, scrapbooking,
crocheting, and music. I look forward to getting to know you better...
My goal is to foster curiosty in students and to encourage them to seek
answers in the natural world. So many aspects of our lives involve making
decisions based on scientific information. What should you eat? Is
excercise beneficial? How does my heart work with my lungs? Why is it
important to know how a cell works? Will it really hurt anything if we kill
off all the wolves that threaten rancher's sheep? These decisions involving
science impact our lives everyday.
My mission is to impart to each student that they are unique
individuals with special talents and strengths. I want each student to
recognize the power of the choices they make every day. Through these
choices students have the power to succeed at anything they choose. I desire
to teach my students the importance of a good education. I want to instill
in them a love of learning and a sense of accomplishment. I will set high
expectations for my students, and I will do everything in my power to help
students reach their full potential. At the same time I expect my students
to make a commitment to learning and to try their best in all things. I
expect my students to treat others as they would like to be treated, to be
considerate, kind, and giving. I, myself, will strive to be positive, fair,
encouraging, motivating, compassionate, but firm. Together we will learn
about science, our world, our fellow students, and ourselves. I expect that
we should all strive to make a positive difference every day.
