Name: Week of: Maintaining your health is a lifelong process. It is important that you develop good, exercise habits when you are young. Regular exercise is one of the seven life-style factors that we will study. These “lifestyle factors” have shown that people who practice them on a regular basis tend to be healthier and live longer. (Health – A Guide to Wellness, Glencoe/McGraw-Hill 2003.) You will receive a weekly grade based on the amount of exercise you complete on your own outside the school day during the weeks you have classroom instruction. The maximum grade each week is 100. *The goal is 2 ˝ hours of exercise each week. (150 minutes of exercise.) For every 15 minutes of exercise you will receive 10 points. 15 min = 10 pts 30 min = 20 pts 45 min = 30 pts 60 min = 40 pts **Athletes may count 30 points per practice or game. You will receive an additional 5 points for every 15 minutes a parent or grandparent, family member or friend exercises with you. This person must sign and date on the date of exercise. Examples of activities: walking, running, biking, hiking, skateboarding, weight training, gymnastics, dance, yoga, aerobic, tae bo, horseback riding, swimming, golf.
