Wellness Article Reviews

Assignment:  Looking in newspapers, magazines, or on the internet, locate one article related to the specific topic being studied.  For example, if we were studying alcohol, you could find a topic on the DUI law, underage drinking, binge drinking, alcoholism, fetal alcohol syndrome, etc.    You will then neatly write or type a 2 paragraph paper related to the article.

1. Find one article related to the specific topic.
2. Cut out, make a copy of, or print off the entire article.
3. Write the following about the article:

1^st 3 lines on left side of the paper:

Your First and Last Name

Wellness Period

Wellness Teacher’s Name (Coach Oakley)

(space – leave a blank line)

Next 3 Lines Centered:

Title of the article

Author(s) of the article

Name of the publication the article was in along with the date of the publication.

(For example:  The Tennessean, August 24, 2005 or Runner’s World August 2005.)

Paragraph 1:

Write one paragraph summarizing the article.  Include several key points the author makes in the article including any interesting quotes or statistics.

Paragraph 2:

Write one paragraph stating your opinion of the facts in the article.  Do you agree or disagree with the author?  Why?

**  Each paragraph should be a minimum of 5 sentences.

This assignment is worth 100 points.
