English III includes the study of American literature and a focus on writing

in a variety of formats, with particular emphasis on persuasive writing.

Students are challenged to think critically and present their ideas through

the written and spoken word in both formal and informal settings. A "junior

project" will help 11th grade students to develop the research, writing and

presentation skills necessary for success in the senior year and beyond.

The American Renaissance

            Major Work: The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn by Mark Twain

Third Quarter

Fourth Quarter

            New American Poetry

 

Materials Needed for Class

One folder with pockets and fasteners

Looseleaf notebook paper

3x5 note cards (at least 60)

Computer disk or flash drive (preferred)

Blue or black ink pens, No. 2 pencils

Class fee - $3

Vocabulary workbook - $7.25 (optional)

Outside reading books – Huckleberry Finn (a class set is available, but personal copies are available for $2)
