Honors English III includes the study of American literature and a focus on writing in a variety of formats, with particular emphasis on persuasive writing. Students are challenged to think critically and present their ideas through the written and spoken word in both formal and informal settings. Honors English III students will move faster and delve deeper into the

literature than non-honors students. In particular, they will read an extra novel, complete a few more literary analysis papers, and extend their learning by studying additional works by the authors covered in the scope of the course. Two minor research papers and a "junior project" over poetry will also help 11th grade honors students to develop the writing and presentation skills necessary for success in the senior year and beyond.
