About the Clinic

The clinic is open from 8am until 3:30pm. No medication is kept in the
clinic except those that are specifically brought in for the student by
their parent/guardian with the proper paperwork and kept in a locked
cabinet. Students are allowed to visit the school nurse for assessment due
to illness or injury; for treatment of minor illness and injury; for their
medication; for medical questions/consultation and for certain procedures.

School Health Information sheets are given to each student at the beginning
of every school year. From this information the nurse is made aware of any
condition that may warrant special attention, emergency contact numbers and
other pertinent information. Certain diagnoses require an Individual Health
Plan (see medication/health forms). These forms, which are filled out by
the parent, supply information needed to properly care for the student. Such
diagnoses include Diabetes, Seizures, Asthma, cardiac problems, allergies
etc.

Many procedures are done outside of the clinic. For this reason there are
several times during the day that the nurse will not be in the clinic. In
this case there are medication designees assigned to substitute in her
absence.
