What is Fundamentals of Math?
Fundamentals of Math 1 is a resouce level pre-algebra class. This class will be offered to incoming freshman who were enrolled in 8th grade resource math or returning freshman who have previously failed the class. From here students will either continue with Fundamentals of Math 2 or Inclusion Algebra 1A/B. Fundamentals of Math 2 and Gateway Algebra/Fundamentals are resource level Algebra 1. Fundamentals of Math 2 is a resource level Algebra 1 class. This class will expand on pre-algebra skills to prepare students for the Algebra Gateway Exam. Gateway Algebra/Fundamentals is a class designed to review Algebra 1 concepts and teach test taking strategies for the Algebra Gateway Exam. Students will take the Algebra Gateway Exam at the end of this course.Back to Top

Do I have to purchase a TI-83?
No, but I do recommend it if at all possible so that you have one at home to do homework. The calculators used in class do not leave the classroom.Back to Top

Can I do extra credit?
Extra credit is extra. It is offered only when a you have put in the time and effort to complete their tests and assignments but even your best effort leaves you just shy of a passing grade.Back to Top

What is the Algebra Gateway?
The Algebra Gateway is one of three Gateway exams a student must pass prior to graduation. All tests are written and graded by the State. They are all multiple choice. These tests are given approximately three weeks before the end of each semester.Back to Top

When do I take the Algebra Gateway?

This varies depending on the path (Tech, University, or General) that a student is on. Everyone is required to have 3 math credits before graduation. A student will receive all math credits if they complete the Fundamentals of Math series of classes.Back to Top

What is inclusion?
Inclusion allows students to be fully involved in the regular classroom. The only difference in an inclusion class and all other regular classes is that an inclusion class will have two teachers. There will be the regular curriculum teacher and a special education teacher/aide.Back to Top
