What is YouthLinks?

YouthLinks is a program for youth, ages 14-21, that provides educational and 
occupational opportunities needed to receive a high school diploma, GED or 
secondary school diploma or post secondary training.

How can I be a part of YouthLinks?

There are qualifications that you must meet in order to be a part of 
YouthLinks.  Call our office 453-3833 to get more information on whether you 
can qualify or not.

What services does the YouthLinks program provide?

Tutoring and study skills training, recovery credit classes, Service 
Learning credit, occupational training and apprenticeships, adult mentoring, 
guidance and counseling, summer employment opportunities, life skills and 
leadership opportunities, job shadowing and character education, GED testing 
fees, tuition and course fees, paid and unpaid work experiences, book fees, 
coordination of Pell Grant information, job search assistance, resume and 
job application preparation, and tutoring at all 4 county high schools.

Where is YouthLinks located?

We are located in the MAP Academy.  Our address is 205 Stumpy Lane.  We are  
beside the Wilson County Board of Education off Highway 231 South.

What other opportunities does YouthLinks provide?

YouthLinks also assists with Credit Recovery, Youth Advisory Council, 
Service Learning, mentoring, and career/post secondary counseling.

What is Credit Recovery?

Credit Recovery is an after school program that allows high school 
students to recover a credit in a previously failed course.

What is Service Learning?

Service Learning is a regular credit class consisting of 133 hours of 
volunteer community service and class orientation and preparation 
instruction. Service Learning can be set up as an after-school program or a 
summer program that allows high school students an opportunity to earn an 
elective credit toward their graduation requirements.

Does YouthLinks go year round?

Yes, we have activities through out the year for our participants.

How can I be a part of tutoring?

All you have to do is call Debra Hill (453-3833 ext. 1103).  She will let 
you know exactly where you need to be and when you can start.

What are the costs of the YouthLinks services?

All of the services and activities provided through YouthLinks are free to 
eligible participants.  YouthLinks receives a grant through the federal 
government under the Department of Labor and Workforce Development that pays 
for all of the opportunities given to our students.
