What is studied in English 10?

Students will read fiction selections including several plays.  We will 
also study non-fiction in several different mediums.  We will also study 
many grammar and writing concepts.
Students must also master the state's curriculum standards in order to pass 
the Gateway exam at the end of the second trimester.

What is the Gateway Exam?

The English 10 Gateway Exam is a state-mandated test.  Students in English 
10 must take this test.  Passing the Gateway is essential.  It demonstrates 
mastery of the curriculum standards, and it must be passed in order to 
graduate.  Gateway exams are given in English 10, Biology, and Algebra I.
