COMPUTER LAB
Policies and Procedures
* Students will be assigned computer work stations and may not change
computers without permission from their instructor.
* Each student is responsible for their own work station. When you
arrive to class, visually inspect your assigned computer. Report any
damage or misuse to your instructor immediately. Place your books,
backpacks, purses, etc. under your work station and place all trash in the
proper containers upon leaving class.
* Students are to be monitored by the classroom instructor or other
certified instructor when using campus computers.
* Instructors are required to be aware what students are doing on the
computers. Stay with the class program, no other screens!
* Students are not permitted to make any changes to the computer
system. Do not tamper with or move computer equipment or cables including
your monitor, keyboard or mouse.
* Computers are to be used for academic purposes only. The Internet
is for curriculum uses only. Do not access the Internet without first
receiving permission from your instructor. General surfing, using e-mail,
instant messaging, games, downloading or uploading to or from the internet
and chat rooms ARE NOT permitted.
* Do not download or play games, MP3 or music files or players of any
kind as this uses up space and bandwidth. Students may not download ANY
file without the instructor's knowledge and permission. Only district
approved software/files maybe downloaded or installed using the proper
procedures.
* No inappropriate materials or projects are to be produced, scanned,
downloaded or transmitted. Obscene, abusive or disrespectful language used
on the computer is a violation of the IUA.
* Food or drink is not permitted in the lab. Be sure they are
properly sealed and remain in your bag.
* Cellular phones are not permitted. Be sure they are turned off and
remain in your bag.
* iPod's and other electronic devices are a privilege. If they
are abused in class then they will be banned
* All items in file server folders MUST be curriculum related. The
server will be monitored regularly and violators will be held accountable
* Diskettes, flash (removable disks), CD's and other devices from home
may not be used unless scanned and approved by the instructor.
* Students who violate any of these policies are to be referred to the
principal for disciplinary action.
The following are also some common sense guidelines for computer users to
follow:
** Do not use computers to harm other people or their work.
** Do not interfere with other people¡¦s computer work.
** Do not snoop around in other people¡¦s files.
** Do not use a computer to steal.
** Do not use a computer to spread lies and rumors.
** Do not use or copy software for which you have not paid.
** Do not use other people's computer resources without authorization.
** Do not use other people's work (intellectual property) without their
consent.
** Think about the social consequences of any information you put on
the computer.
In other words..
** Use computers in ways that show consideration and respect.
