Island Colonization

Top Divider

Conclusion

So, were you for or against colonizing the island?  Did you have a hard time choosing sides?  Of course you know the island is fictitious, but colonization certainly isn’t.  You’ve seen both sides of this issue by looking at some of the history of colonization in North America.  You can’t go back and change history, but if you could, what kinds of things would you do differently?  Do you think it is a good idea to colonize any land that has native peoples living there?  Would it be okay to colonize space?  If so, who would get to decide which country colonizes?  Would you like to try and decide?

You’ve had the chance to write persuasively about an important issue.  This is a valuable skill and will benefit you during the rest of your school career and in your everyday life.  Philosophers say “the pen is mightier than the sword” and you may find out just how true that is one day by using your powers of persuasion to solve real-world dilemmas.
