About The Teacher
I have taught at Alamo Heights since 1974 (YIKES!). Before that I taught for three years in Honolulu. I earned a B.A. in mathematics from Vanderbilt University, received my teaching credentials from the University of Hawaii, and have an M.A. from UTSA. My husband of 39 years is a civil engineer and AHHS graduate. We have one daughter, Ashley, (also a graduate of AHHS) who is a civil engineer in Nashville. When not teaching, I enjoy reading, playing golf, piano, and bridge...and learning about technology! As a consultant for the College Board, I spent much of the summer teaching week-long institutes for PreAP mathematics teachers around the Southwestern United States. I hope that you will have a successful year learning mathematics, becoming better problem solvers, seeing the connections that mathematics has in the world around us, appreciating the beauty of mathematics, and developing skills that will help you become life long learners. I would like for you to leave this course enthusiastic about learning more mathematics!
