What is ASPIRE?

What ASPIRE is:
�	A grant that offers Afterschool Programming that extends and 
enriches student learning 
�	Offers students a broad array of activities designed to reinforce 
and complement the regular academic program of participating students such 
as:
o	Youth Development
o	Physical Education, Nutrition and Fitness Programs
o	Technology Education Programs

We provide homework ASSISTANCE not completion.

What ASPIRE is NOT

�	After school childcare 
�	Free daycare center
�	We do not offer flexible care scheduling that works with parents� 
schedule
o	Children are expected to stay until 5:15pm  and be picked up by 
5:45pm

How can My Child get into the ASPIRE Afterschool Program?

Admission in the program is primarily based on academic need.  Teachers 
recommend students that need extra help academically.  
o	Automatic Qualifier: Limited in English, At-risk of not passing 
TAKS, students needing additional support in core academic subjects: 
reading, math & science
o	Teacher Nominated Student
o	Transfer students are put on a waiting list

What are the ASPIRE hours and days of operation?

ASPIRE operates on all school days.  Program hours are from 2:45 PM to 5:45 
PM daily.  No ASPIRE on early release days.

Does it cost to be in ASPIRE?

No.  Since it is a grant funded program, there is no cost.  Parents are 
asked to contribute by volunteering at Anderson Mill Elementary one hour per 
month if their child is in the program.

What other options do parents have for afterschool care and enrichments?

YMCA will have an after school program at each campus.  Please call  (512) 246
- YMCA for more information.

There are several AfterSchool Enrichments at each campus.

Bluebonnet:
ASPIRE, Choir, Piano, RoboLab, Social Club and YMCA.  Watch out for Saturday
School.  

Anderson Mill:
AMIGOS, ASPIRE, Drama Club, High Achievers, Piano, Spanish Club and YMCA
