FAQFrequently Asked Questions: This page contains answers to common questions of students and parents.
How do I pay for my child's lunch? You may set up an account and prepay for lunch with the cafeteria. You can also send money daily in a sealed envelope or ziploc bag labeled with your child's name. Please place the envelope/bag in your student's Daily Folder. Teachers do not have access to lunch account information- you can contact the school cafeteria for more information. Where do I pick up my child if they are a walker or car rider? Kindergarten students will be waiting with their teachers near the blue benches in the front circle drive. What do I do if my child is leaving school a different way? Please send a note in the daily folder or call the school office. We cannot take your student's word and we cannot let your student go home differently without your permission. Always advise your child's teacher of any changes in routine. Is there a dress code for Kindergarten? Yes, there is a general dress code for grades K - 5. Please refer to the school handbook and district handbook given to each student the first week of school. Does my child need a backpack? Yes. Your child will be responsible for keeping up with a Daily Folder, books, and other materials. A backpack will help your student be organized. Due to rigorous academic requirements, we do not have a long traditional nap time in kindergarten. In the beginning of the year students are allowed to have a short nap as they adjust to the Kindergarten day. As students become more accustommed to the full day of school, classes often have only a short rest time, or teachers phase out rest time, to allow for more classroom instruction. In many classrooms this time becomes quiet reading time while the teacher is working with tutorial groups or guided reading groups. How can I best prepare my student for a great day of school? 1. Set a bedtime and stick to it. It is very important that your student be well rested. If your child is used to taking a long nap, the full day of school can be difficult. At this age it is recommended that children have 10 hours of sleep each night. 2. Make sure your child has had a healthy breakfast. Breakfast is served in our cafeteria at 7:15am. 3. Help your student arrive on time. Classroom instruction begins immediately. Tardy students miss out on valuable learning time and disrupt classroom routines. Tardies are reported to the attendance office and recorded on your student's report card. 4. Help your child be prepared. Your student needs to have his/her Daily Folder and backpack everyday. |
