When do the fall sports begin at Beckendorff?

Football begins for boys on 8/27/09--first day of school.
Volleyball begins for girls on 8/28/09 for 8th graders and 8/29/09 for 7th 
graders.
All students must have a current physical form on file to participate.

How many players can make a team?

There will be 36 players on each grade level volleyball team.  12 for the A, 
12 for the B, and 12 for the C.  
Football is a NO CUT sport.  All students trying out will make a team.

What days are games played on?

Volleyball--Thursdays
Football--Monday--7th grade and Tuesday--8th grade

What is the length of the season?

Volleyball and football seasons run from the beginning of school until 
the beginning of November.

What are the other sports offered at BDJH?

Basketball, track, and tennis are offered later in the school year at 
Beckendorff.  Many students choose to do more than one of these sports and 
that is fine.  Track is a "no cut" sport, but basketball and
tennis 
will require tryouts and cuts.

What happens to my child's schedule if they do not play the next sport?

Any boy who is in football but not basketball will stay in their current 
athletic period but move to a PE curriculum.
Girls not making basketball will have a schedule change.
